According to Spanish sports daily Marca, the Yellow Submarine have identified Carlos as a possible replacement for forward Thierno Barry, who is being courted by Premier League club Everton, among others.
Villarreal signed Thierno Barry from FC Basel in the summer of 2024 and Carlos was his replacement at the Swiss club.
Carlos won everything possible in Switzerland in the 2024-2025 season, including the Super League and Swiss Cup.
The 24-year-old tallied fifteen goals from 40 appearances across all competitions.
After winning the top scorer award for the 2023-2024 campaign, the former Yverdon Sport star was acquired by FC Basel for a fee of three million euros.
Before moving to Switzerland, the physical forward turned out for SD Huesca, Almudevar and Real Betis.
Born in Ceuta to a Spanish mother and Nigerian father, Carlos expressed his willingness to represent the Super Eagles in an interview five years ago.
Carlos has been described as a powerful striker with strong aerial ability, clinical finishing with both feet and the pace to exploit space with intelligent diagonal runs.
His physicality also allows him to hold off defenders and play effectively with his back to goal.
